# dive tool rm

> Delete a user tool file or a built-in tool's override

Deletes the tool's file, without asking. `builtin__<name>` deletes the override in a tools directory's `builtin/` folder and brings the shipped tool back. Plans and agents that still call it are listed; nothing else is changed. Pack tools can't be removed one at a time — remove a pack with `dive pack remove`.

## Arguments

**NAME** `string` *required*

The tool's name: user\_\_\<name> or a bare name, or builtin\_\_\<name> for an override

## Options

**--json** `boolean`

Print a JSON envelope instead of text

## Global options

**-v, --verbose** `integer`

Increase log verbosity (-v info, -vv debug, -vvv trace)
